MUAY THAI / THE ART OF THE EIGHT LIMBS

​Muay Thai is an ancient Thai martial art that dates back over 1000 years to an age when Thai warriors used it to defend their country from Burmese invaders. It is referred to as “The Art of Eight Limbs” - using eight points of contact the body to mimic weapons of war. Thai boxing has been used for centuries to build strength, endurance, power of concentration, and discipline. Stockade Martial Arts is home to professional, amatuer, and recreational Muay Thai fighters.

OUR PROGRAM

Our adult Muay Thai program is open to students from ages 14+ and we tailor the class to each individual, whether their goal is for competition, fitness or hobby. Our instructors have years of experience training men, women, and children at all different levels of experience. Our program is challenging and engaging, focusing on traditional Thai technique, and safe for everyone as they progress in skill level.

Under the focused guidance of our coaches, Stockade's students have gone on to compete locally, nationally, and internationally on the world's premier Muay Thai Promotions. Everyone who trains with us has a hand in the development of our fighters, as students of various skill levels train together. Coaches and advanced students share knowledge and techniques with beginner students fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment.

MUAY THAI BAG WORK

Students work on the bag individually, increasing power, timing and footwork on the heavy bag by building combinations step-by-step and developing stamina through the use of varied training intervals and intensities.

MUAY THAI PAD WORK

Students of all skill levels work with rotating partners to work on developing offensive and defensive combinations using Thai pads.

TECHNICAL SPARRING

Moving with rotating partners, students practice light contact technical sparring (60-70% power) with an emphasis on technique development, skill, and control.

Students of all levels learn standing grappling techniques, employing elbows, knees, and throws.

MUAY THAI

Schedule your free week trial. Our skilled coaches will work with you one-to-one, and in a class setting, to introduce you the the fundamentals of Muay Thai. Students are encouraged to attend classes for the full week, to get a sense for our program, and to meet our coaching staff. 

 

KALI

Contact us to schedule your free Kali class. We provide all the necessary gear. Our coaches will work with you exploring foundational Kali concepts with rotating partners. 

BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

Contact us to schedule your free Brazilian-Jiu Jitsu class. Our skilled instructors will walk you through the basics of BJJ.

KIDS MUAY THAI PROGRAM

Children 5 to 12

Contact us to schedule your free week. We invite you and your child to join us for one free week of Muay Thai classes. We provide all the necessary gear. Please have your child wear comfortable clothes to move in. Our coaches work with first-time students individually and in a class setting. Parents are encouraged to stay and observe our program during their child's trial week.

TEENS

Contact us to schedule your free week. Children over the age of 12 are invited to join us for a free trial week. Teens join with our adult beginner program working both one-on-one with our coaches and in a class setting. 

We invite you to join us for a free week of classes to see if our programs are the right fit for you. First, contact us to schedule your beginner trial. Our skilled coaches will give you one-to-one attention while introducing you to the fundamentals of Muay Thai.

 

TRIAL WEEK OVERVIEW

All participants must schedule their free trial week. Please arrive for your first beginner class a few minutes early to sign some paperwork and get situated. We provide gloves and gear. You may bring your own gloves if you prefer. Wear comfortable clothes to move in. New students with previous Muay Thai experience may also sign-up for a free trial week. All students participating in the free trial must be residents of the Mid Hudson Valley.
